From deep within the Amazon rainforest to the vast steppes of her native Russia, Sofya tells stories that inspire people to connect with the natural world, learn how to live from it and learn how to live with it.
With a degree in Natural Resources Conservation, Sofya is a professional conservationist and storyteller, working on inscribing “nature” back into “human nature” by engaging with local and global communities and lands intertwined with them and capturing beauty and relationships that might soon disappear, emphasizing the urgency of preservation.
Now based on the unceded lands of Musquem, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations (Lower Mainland Vancouver), Sofya works on intersections of travel, and documentary and fine art spaces. Her art encourages one to explore meaningfully, to connect deeper, and to remember how to take care of the Earth that takes care of us.
